NEW On Premises Laundry Qualification
The On Premises Laundry (OPL) qualification addresses issues and best practice with regard to sorting, collection, transportation, appropriate washing techniques, storage of laundry, and cleaning of the laundry premises and where clean laundry is stored.
This is a new qualification for assessment of staff working within the on premises laundry setting. High standards of laundry care are essential for a wide variety of sectors including catering and hospitality, leisure, beauty, education, hospitals and the care industry.
The ‘Specialist Skills’ are supported by the ‘Mandatory Units’ and ‘Core Skills’. Each business can identify the skills they need from the ‘Core Skills’ list to clean their premises and then chose the relevant ‘Specialist Skills’ to meet their individual business needs.

Cleaning Professional's Skills Suite
The Cleaning Professional’s Skills Suite (CPSS), is a recently launched accredited training scheme which has been introduced to meet the current and on-going needs and demands of all types of businesses.
The CPSS includes three mandatory units: Chemical Competence, Equipment Safe Use and Care, and Storage of equipment and materials. These essential skills have been made compulsory to ensure the safety of the cleaning operatives and the users of the building, and for the sustainability of the building. 25 core cleaning skills are available, covering a broad aspect of cleaning responsibilities. To be awarded the CPSS the minimum requirement is the three mandatory units. The operatives will then only have to learn what is directly relevant to them and the environment that they are cleaning in.
The CPSS will give people the opportunity to return to learning, with hands on accredited training and the skills needed to safely work within the cleaning industry.
