16. Assessments during a Verification Visit - BICSc

Fri 24 Apr 2015 06:00:00 PM EEST

For an Assessor Approval or Assessor Renewal to be conducted correctly, professionally and safely, the Verification Support Coordinator must have the opportunity to observe both the Assessor(s) and Candidate during the entire Assessment(s).

On the day of the Verification Visit; for the purpose of the Assessor Approval or Assessor Renewal, Centres must provide a ‘competent person’, willing to carry out the role of Candidate. With immediate effect, the Verification Support Coordinator cannot act as the Candidate.

In the event a Verification Support Coordinator arrives to carry out an Assessor Approval or Assessor Renewal and the Centre has not provided a Candidate, the visit will be cancelled and the Centre will be subject to a cancellation charge.

The competent person must be someone who has been trained on the skills requested. Ideally the competent person should be someone who has achieved the BICSc Licence to Practice and has been certificated in the same requested skills. The most suitable person would be a BICSc Assessor who has been certificated in the requested skills.

In most cases Centres have more than one Assessor present and so a Verification Visit is conducted without an issue. On occasions the Verification Support Coordinator has arrived for a Verification Visit and only one Assessor is present and no one to act as a Candidate.

When a Candidate has not been made available, the Verification Support Coordinator has played the role of candidate; however they are unable to conduct their role as Verifier correctly.

Thank you for your cooperation.
