On 8th May 2014 members of the North-West Region held their AGM at Shaw Hill Golf and Country Club near Chorley. After a buffet lunch and the formalities of the AGM, Matt Dean and Delia Cannings Both gave Presentations during the meeting. Matt Dean is a BICSc verification team leader and Delia Cannings is the founder of Environmental Excellence Education LTD (3ees).
After Terry Brooks, the Northwest Regional Chairman, had welcomed a room full of members and guests, he conducted the business of the AGM at which he was re-appointed as Chairman, Lynne Barton as Secretary and John Edwards as Treasurer.
Matt then gave a Presentation concerning his role as a Verifier. He illustrated it by describing a ‘Day in the Life of a Verifier’, one of his daily activates is meeting assessors around the country. His patch ranges from Birmingham to the north of Scotland, this involves driving a long way almost everyday. A large number of those attending are from his region, so his appearance sparked interested in the room.
Delia followed Matt, giving an excellent Presentation about cleaning in general and environmental aspects in particular. Her colleague, James Marston help her with the presentation, he provided information on a number of specialist subjects. She touched on a number of topics, including indoors air quality, sick building syndrome, servicing clean zones, barrier matting and even the benefits of bamboo products!
Both talks were extremely well received. Only time constraints prevented a period of questions and discussion from continuing longer.
