On Thursday 28th April 2016 the North West Region will hold their AGM. At this event there will also be a presentation by Eversheds about immigration law.
Immigration Law is becoming ever more complex and we are constantly being told that ‘Ignorance of the law is no excuse’. What is the law? In 2010 two lawyers from Eversheds Solicitors, a multi-national firm, gave us an extremely interesting and helpful presentation on this subject. We are very fortunate that Eversheds have kindly agreed to update us and explain other legal matters of which we should be aware. Knowledge of Immigration Law is vital for everyone concerned with those dealing, or may possibly deal, with immigrants, who are increasing in numbers. The penalty for not checking whether a person is ‘bone fide’ or not, or employing an illegal immigrant, or keeping unsatisfactory records, could be a very expensive fine and/or, possibly, a jail sentence. In view of the importance of this meeting you may consider inviting your H.R. and legal colleagues to attend as guests, as they would be most welcome. Members will be kindly asked for £5 and guests £10 as a contribution towards the cost of the buffet and event. A raffle will be held for Regional funds, any prizes would be most welcome
The buffet will start at noon followed by the AGM at 12.30pm. Eversheds' presentation will begin at 12.50pm and will finish by approximately 2.00pm.
