You may have heard about CIMS, but do you know what it is?

So what is it?

CIMS is the first cleaning industry standard, the standard which lays out a framework based on management principles contains universally considered hallmarks of successful cleaning organisations. These principles include:

  • - Quality systems
  • - Health
  • - Safety & environmental stewardship
  • - Service delivery
  • - Management commitment
  • - Human resources

Why would I want CIMS certificate? 

By having a CIMS certificate it demonstrates a commitment to quality & continual operational improvement. As well as this it also demonstrates best use of resources, it increases efficiency, differentiates yourself from the competition and demonstrates a focus on customer satisfaction.

How do I achieve CIMS certification?

To become a CIMS certificated company you will have to undergo an comprehensive on-site assessment, this will be used to verify your organisations is compliant with the standards set. This will done by an independent accredited auditory, and will be run by ISSA and BBS, BBS serve as a Register for the UK & Ireland, administering the audit process and managing the assessors.

How long will certification be?

The certification will be valid for 2 years, reassessments are possible and will be required thereafter to ensure that the organisation is still compliant with the standards. The cost of this will be £1,000 per assessment day, (plus reasonable expenses, e.g. travel and accommodation).

Ways to prepare for a certification

To start with contact BBS and go online to download the registration form, 1 day training with an exam at the end will be £650 per person. There is also an option to become a CIMS ‘Industry Cleaning Expert’ 

(I.C.E), this will give you critical information that can help your customers & organisations to meet demands from the highest level management level. 

Who is it aimed at?

CIMS is aimed at distributors, manufactures, manufacturer reps, consultants & trainers. Become a part of a growing list of individuals offering a crucial new value-added service to their customers / organisations.

When is it? Where is it?

There will be CIMS event being held at the Forest of Arden Hotels & Country Club before the BICSc Annual Awards. This is on the 17th of September 2014.
