ISSA/ Interclean, Amsterdam 2014 - Education, Membership and training within the cleaning industry | BICSc

Described as 'the largest gathering of cleaning professionals in the world' (William R Griffin, 2014).

The BICSc team were proud to be in attendance alongside around 650 other exhibitors. Nearly 20,000 attendees passed through the five trade show halls over the four day period running from the 6th-9th of May 2014.

Cleaning industry innovations...

BICSc CEO Stan Atkins shares his views on some of the innovative cleaning solutions promoted at the show:

  • Black toilet paper and Linnet paper that cleans the soil pipes as it biodegrades within the system are new to me!
  • Floor pads that are made from recycled fizzy drinks bottles and contain a chemical that makes them biodegrade by 70% in under one year in the Landfill. Normal pads degrade less than 4% in one year.
  • Water treatment technology is making a strong entry into the marketplace this year, with booth o-zone and other treatment wing for the market. As yet there is still a lack of empirical scientific evidence to support this but who knows what the future will bring!
  • Vapour cleaning machines seem to be making a resurgence in the market place. Steam and Vac is a new term being promoted by a number of manufactures.
  • Microfiber has been readily available in the UK since 1997 it appears that it is still being promoted as innovation now. This is likely to be due to the progression that is happening e.g. different sizes, colours and disposables.
  • The use of extension technology is progressing and is being used to reach and wash. This technology is being used to develop poles in conjunction with vacuum & CTV to reach those hard to get areas!
