In Memory of Mr. Colin Hasson

25th September 1932 - 1st April 2015

Colin Hasson, FBICSc, 83, passed away on Wednesday 1st April 2015 at Northampton General Hospital. He leaves his wife of 50 years Gwyneth, sons, grandchildren and many close friends.

Colin was a stalwart of the Institute, joining the organisation 38 years ago in 1977. He was a champion of the Cleaning industry, always taking pride in his achievements and was highly respected by his peers and colleagues. Those who knew him well would consider him a mentor as well as a friend. Colin although being unwell for sometime, attended the BICSc Council meeting in January this year where his contribution was as always a valued one.

Colin wrote the book “To Teach to Clean” which is of course is a translation of the Latin “Docere Pugare”, copies of which are given to new staff members who join the Institute. He also wrote “The Cleaning Industry” which covered a wide history of the industry as a whole.

Colin was also a lifelong Arsenal FC supporter and will always be remembered with warmth and kindness. He will be greatly missed.

A funeral service will be held locally, details to follow.

In line with his wishes Colin’s funeral will be at 11 am on Wednesday 6th May at St Mary’s Church in East Haddon. After the service the family will be moving to the Red Lion in East Haddon for light refreshments.
