2gether Support Solutions - how BICSc training is really making a difference

Last year we started a roll out of BICSc training across East Kent Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (EKHUFT) in collaboration with 2gether Support Services.

The team at William Harvey Hospital have reported that things are going well, they are currently now rolling out BU2 and BU6 across the team. They have also set up ‘toolbox talks’ for BU2 and hope to deliver this across the team by the end of the month, making for a handy refresher before assessments take place.

Here is an update from Poppy Browne, Business Support Team Leader, for 2gether Support Solutions:

“Ryan has been rapidly becoming an amazing member of staff who now attends training sessions with the team leaders and challenging things when he does not believe things are correct. Ryan’s growth in this role has been incredible.

“Tony is becoming a standout member of staff and regularly has a ‘proud moment’ from either Eva Pringle (Head of Facilities) or Damien (Customer Service Manager), at least twice a week. He passed his BICSc LTP first time and was overjoyed at this achievement.  We are now working with Tony to complete his skills assessments. His confidence grows more and more, and he too also challenges management when things aren’t right. Recently one of his buffing machines was squeaking and he reported this to Damien, and Diversey Ltd were brought in to talk through the machines and investigate with members of the floor team. Tony has come a long way in the time he has been with us, and the training certainly brought out the best in him.

“Evans came in to have a mini training session with us, this was interesting for the team and supported our ongoing training programme.

“In May, we hosted an event for World Hand Hygiene Day, which was an absolute joy to take part in and really brought everyone together across all departments. Thanga’s photo clearly demonstrates the fun we had with this.

“I achieved 100% two days in a row with feedback for the toilet team, as you can imagine the team and I were over the moon with this.”
