Making public health happen everywhere

Public health is at a critical juncture. Ill health is steadily rising, more people are living with long-term health conditions, and increasing inequalities are driving worse health outcomes.

Preventing ill health and protecting and promoting the health of the public is key to solving these problems and ensuring good health outcomes for all.

That’s why from 6th -10th October, we’re celebrating Public Health Workforce Week.

Join us in recognising the people that make public health possible – the work they do and the support they need to transform our nation’s health.

That’s where the public health workforce comes in. The workforce includes people working in sectors like pest control, health coaching, emergency services, nursing, emergency planning, environmental health, allied health professionals and more. The work they do is essential to keeping people healthy, happy and safe.

This Public Health Workforce Week, join us in recognising and celebrating the people that make public health possible – the work they do, the support they need, and how we can encourage even more people to get involved. Building on the Unusual Suspects report, RSPH will be publishing a new report looking at the impact the public health workforce have, and the support they need to go further in their careers.

Join in the conversation by celebrating the workforce and sharing your thoughts on social media using the hashtag or follow along on the RSPH social media channels.
