As you may be aware, we have been showcasing some of the Amazing Assessors and today we wanted to celebrate the great work done by Angela Witton.

Angela has worked as a Cleaning Supervisor for the last 9 years at the University of Wolverhampton Science Park.

We spoke with Angela about her BICSc journey and the impact the training has had on her career.

How long have you been involved with BICSc?

“I have been involved with BICSc since December 2023 when the University of Wolverhampton implemented BICSc across all of its locations. I am now a BICSc Licensed Assessor, and I am responsible for training my own team in all rolled skills. I have also assessed several members of staff across the University.”

How has BICSc impacted your workplace and work life?

“BICSc has been a long, and at times interesting, journey to get where we are now. However, now the cleaning team have a better understanding of how to complete a task safely and to a high standard. They were afraid, unsure and a little apprehensive to start with, however with a lot of team support and help they now have completed their BICSc training and passed all required skills. This has given them a sense of new found pride in their work.”

If you could offer any advice to an employer/employee looking to use BICSc, what would it be?

“My advice to anyone starting on their BICSc journey is don’t get stressed, it may seem scary and hard at first but it isn’t. Once you get started you will see it’s not that bad. Just take your time, make sure you read, watch videos and read all the information you’re given. These resources help a lot, so, make notes and practice whilst you’re doing your daily tasks. It will become second nature.”

If you could sum up your BICSc journey in one sentence what would it be?

“BICSc has been a rollercoaster of emotions, hard work and laughter with my team members who I did the courses with, we all were very supportive to each other.”

We hope you’ve enjoyed learning more about Angela as much as we have, and that her insights and experiences have inspired you.
